The Spirits of Mexico Festival to Celebrate Mexico’s History, Culture and Spirits May 23 - 24

North America’s oldest, largest and most comprehensive celebration of agave-based spirits, the Spirits of Mexico Festival, will kick-off its national tour in New York City May 23 and 24. The Spirits of Mexico celebrates the art of distilling agave spirits and hosts best-selling authors and critics, top mixologists and master distillers from world-renowned and new-to-market brands who come together to share their skills, experience and above all, their spirits.

Spirits enthusiasts are invited to participate in the two-day festival beginning with a VIP dining event, Wednesday, May 23 at Toloache 50, 251 West 50th St. A tasting reception of the finest spirits will open the night, followed by a three-course, agave-infused dinner prepared only for this occasion by celebrity Chef/Owner Julian Medina at 6.p.m. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet the master distillers behind some of the featured major spirit brands. Tickets are $250 and the event will conclude with a live auction featuring rare and collectible bottlings not available elsewhere in the United States.

The main tasting event along with a silent auction will take place at Agave NY, 140 7th Avenue South, Thursday, May 24. Master distillers, authors, mezcaleros, tequileros, mixologists, and ambassadors from world-renowned and new-to-market brands will share their skills, experience and, of course, their agave spirits. Seminars will also be available for guests to learn about the history and culture of each spirit, current trends in the spirits industry and appropriate tasting techniques.

VIP tickets to the main tasting event at Agave NY are $85 in advance and include early entrance at 6:30 p.m., special agave-infused cuisine, gift bags for the first 100 reservations and admittance to all seminars. Tickets for general admission, starting at 7:30 p.m., are $65 and $15 per seminar. All proceeds from these events will benefit the Sky Ranch Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting troubled youth since 1961.

New York City is the Spirits of Mexico’s first stop, which will also travel to Chicago in July and San Diego in September. For more information about the Spirits of Mexico Festival, visit
