Telemundo announces roster of sponsors for the inaugural “2011 Billboard Mexican Music Awards presented by State Farm®”

MIAMI – October 18, 2011 – Telemundo announced the roster of sponsors lined up for the “2011 Billboard Mexican Music Awards presented by State Farm,” Telemundo’s first-ever musical awards show dedicated exclusively to Regional Mexican music. The awards show will take place at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles and will air on Telemundo on October 27 at 7PM/6C.

Continuing its commitment to the music platform with Telemundo, State Farm is the title sponsor of the “2011 Billboard Mexican Music Awards presented by State Farm.” The State Farm sponsorship will include local promotion, as well as two events in Los Angeles. The local promotion contest, entitled “Dance Your Way to the Mexican Music Awards,” took place on Friday, October 14 at 9PM PST. The first 50 couples registered competed in a dance off set to Mexican Music for a chance to win a unique experience at the “2011 Billboard Mexican Music Awards presented by State Farm.” Five winners were chosen based on originality, style, and the ability to capture the spirit of Mexican music. Each winning couple received an exclusive invitation to attend the awards show on Thursday, October 27 at the Orpheum Theater, where they will have a chance to be a part of the audience and dance along to the performances by the night’s featured artists. State Farm will also be visible via digital banners and inclusion in Video On Demand content.

Additional sponsors for the “2011 Billboard Mexican Music Awards presented by State Farm” include Sprint, Volkswagen, Pepsi and T-Mobile.

To recognize music’s biggest stars during Hispanic Heritage month and pay tribute to the most popular genre in Latin music, Telemundo will air the first annual “2011 Billboard Mexican Music Awards presented by State Farm.” Gerardo Ortiz, Larry Hernández, Julión Álvarez y su Norteño Banda, Intocable, Grupo Montéz de Durango, Banda Los Recoditos, Jenni Rivera, Los Horóscopos de Durango, Shaila Dúrcal and Paquita la del Barrio are among the notable list of artists scheduled to perform during the ceremony. This new, star-studded musical extravaganza follows the tradition of the “Billboard Latin Music Awards.” 

Awards will be given to the most popular albums, songs and performers as determined by sales, downloads and radio airplay data that comprises Billboard Magazine’s weekly charts during a one year period.
