Minority Buying Power, Market Opportunity Prompts PR Partnership

TULSA, Okla. - (Business Wire) Rex today announced the formation of a strategic partnership with Xposure, the only public relations firm dedicated to diversity communications in the state.

The partnership enables the communications specialists to align graphic design, interactive and other services as warranted to offer a range of services and specialties unique to the market.

“With the fast-paced growth of minority buying power, it just makes sense to capture a percentage of the minority dollar,” said Ryan Rex, chief executive officer of Rex. “Xposure is highly engaged in minority markets across the state. By forming a strategic partnership, our firms offer needed resources to assist Oklahoma businesses in competing for those dollars.”

From 1990 to 2008, the Oklahoma Hispanic buying power alone increased 610 percent compared to a 146 percent increase in the buying power of white Oklahomans. The state also has the second largest Native American market in the nation.

“Minority purchasing power is more than a trillion dollars in the United States,” said Risha Grant, chief executive officer of Xposure. “Companies that don't embrace them now will miss out. Companies who ignore them tomorrow will become obsolete.”

In north Tulsa, a nearly $280 million opportunity gap exists as demand outweighs supply, according to a recent study by Nielsen Claritas, a national provider of syndicated surveys and databases of consumer behavior. While consumer demand is more than $609 million annually, a supply of only $330 million exists.

Rex is one of the fastest growing strategic communications firms in the state with expertise in public relations, marketing, special events, graphic design, interactive services and copywriting. The integrated firm structure develops cost-effective solutions for communications challenges across the full spectrum of media. Call (918) 599-0029 or visit www.rexpr.com for more.

Xposure is a minority-owned public relations, events and marketing firm that publishes Xposure Urban Magazine, a publication that focuses on minority issues and brings empowerment and motivation to minority communities. Xposure is led by Grant, a former television producer and newspaper editor who launched her own diversity communications and public relations firm with such high-profile accounts as American Airlines, NetCom Solutions and Langston University.
